Talayotic communities of Menorca
Talaiotic communities (modern archaeological term)
Menorca’s Bronze and Iron Age communities built talayots, navetas, circular houses, taula enclosures, and other dry-stone structures across many settlements. Torre d’en Galmés is a well-preserved reference site, not an island capital or ethnic boundary.
Geografia histórica, organização política e transformação
Geografia histórica
Talayotic sites occur across Menorca in dense settlement and funerary landscapes. The UNESCO serial property and the atlas marker identify selected evidence, not a political or cultural boundary.
Organização política e escala comunitária
Settlement organization and monumental construction indicate coordinated labor and changing social differences. Evidence does not establish one ruler, capital, or uniform government for all Menorcan communities.
Transformação de época romana e recepção posterior
Sites remained in use or were reoccupied through Punic, Roman, and medieval periods. Modern Menorcan stewardship protects this archaeological heritage without claiming an unchanged ancient population.
One of Menorca’s substantial archaeological sites, used for orientation rather than as an island-wide capital.
UNESCO protects a serial archaeological property; its mapped limits are heritage-management boundaries, not ancient political borders.
It describes recurring evidence and periods rather than one named race, tribe, language, or government.

Visual relationships among some monuments may reflect social or cosmological organization, but interpretation remains qualified.
Roman conquest in 123 BCE marks a political transition, not the end of every local practice or settlement.
Objects, scripts, names, and settlement patterns can document contact and change, but none alone proves a fixed ethnic identity or population boundary.
