Why ancient DNA changes how we see British and Irish heritage

Ancient DNA works differently.
Instead of comparing you to living reference populations, the Ancient British Isles Report compares your genome to 500 authenticated archaeological samples recovered from sites across the British Isles. This multi-method approach is deliberate. No single algorithm captures the full complexity of British Isles population history. By weighting IBD segments most heavily, we prioritize evidence of direct genetic sharing with ancient individuals, while ADMIXTURE and UMAP provide broader population context.
