Abstract
Summary of the research findings
Ancient Rome was characterized by extensive human mobility that contributed to shaping the genetic makeup of its inhabitants. We present the first paleogenomic data from 10 individuals from the Imperial period necropolis of Casal Bertone (1st-3rd centuries CE). We successfully reconstructed whole mitochondrial genomes for all individuals and genome-wide data for six of them.
