Abstract
Summary of the research findings
The timing and character of the dispersal of Homo sapiens into Europe is a key topic in human evolution research. Here we report new evidence from Bacho Kiro Cave (Bulgaria) that provides the earliest confirmed evidence of H. sapiens presence in higher-latitude Europe at around 45,000 years ago.
