Summary of the research findings
Archaeogenetic analyses of 138 Early Bronze Age individuals from Lower Austria, associated with the Únětice and Unterwölbling cultural groups, reveal social organization and genetic relationships within and between communities. Identity-by-descent patterns indicate long-distance links across Central Europe, while contrasts between the two groups persist. The findings point to predominantly patrilocal residence with non-strict female exogamy and highlight distinct genetic profiles despite shared social dynamics, refining our understanding of interregional connections and social mechanisms in the region.
