Abstract
Summary of the research findings
The expansion of Bantu-speaking peoples (BSP) over the past 4,000-5,000 years constitutes one of the most significant and debated population movements in African history. We generated a comprehensive dataset of genomic variation in BSP by sequencing 92 individuals from 20 populations to an average depth of 4.3×. We found that present-day BSP genetically cluster according to their geographic location rather than their linguistic classification.
